On January 19, 2009, community members, youth, college students, families, civic groups, politicians, religious groups and more came together to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through service across Winston-Salem, High Point, and Greensboro. Nearly 5,000 volunteers helped with beautification projects at local schools, held marches to rally mentors for youth, read to children, donated blood, hosted foreclosure prevention clinics, collected canned foods and more -- all working towards building Dr. King's vision of a beloved community in North Carolina. 2009 Steering Committee: Hollie Rose, The Volunteer Center of Greensboro, Inc.
